In November 2008, Judge Matthews was appointed to the vacant seat in the 281st.  At the time of her appointment, Judge Matthews was a partner in the litigation section of Andrews Kurth, LLP.  She received her law degree in 1986 and has over twenty years of experience handling commercial and personal injury cases.
