Attorneys must apply online by pressing the button at the bottom of the page.

The Harris County District Courts Trying Criminal Cases are currently accepting applications through 11:59 pm on Monday, October 25th, 2021 for the following:

 

Court Appointments to Non-Capital Felony Cases

For attorneys currently not approved for felony appointments in the Harris County District Courts Trying Criminal Cases.         

 

Reassessment of Court Appointment Level*

            For attorneys currently approved for felony appointments in the Harris County District Courts Trying Criminal
            Cases who wish to have their appointment level reconsidered.

                       

            *Caveat: After reviewing the completed application, the board of judges may:

·         Upgrade applicant’s classification

·         Downgrade applicant’s classification

·         Leave applicant’s classification unchanged or

·         Remove applicant from master list. (See Standards and Procedures 5.7). 

 

 

Exam: 
The certification exam is scheduled from 12:30 to 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 28th, 2021. Please arrive no later than 12:15 p.m. No extended time for those arriving late.

Exam will be held in accordance with Harris County Covid-19 Operating Procedures.

 

 

Both applications require the following documents:

           

·         Recent photo of yourself

·         Most recent MCLE report from the State Bar

·         Any other documents specified in the application

·         Written explanations if you have ever:

o   Been sanctioned by the State Bar Grievance Committee

o   Been sanctioned for failure to appear before a court

o   Admitted, in connection with an official proceeding, to having provided ineffective assistance of counsel

o   Been convicted or placed on deferred adjudication for any offense other than traffic offenses
